Do you suffer from chronic pain, a long-standing injury or muscle and joint stiffness?
At Tension Release, your massage therapist may use Myofascial Release to enhance the treatment of long-standing chronic pain, stubborn injuries and other conditions. A gentle blend of stretching and massage, Myofascial Release uses hands-on manipulation to promote healing, release tension and relieve pain.
How Can Myofascial Release Therapy Help?
Poor posture, physical injury, illness and stress can throw the body out of alignment and cause its intricate web of connective tissues, or fascia, to become tight and constricted. This in turn can lead to many physical problems.
Myofascial Release works on restrictions in the muscles and fascia to eliminate pain and restore motion. It can also uncover emotional patterns that may have interfered with the healing process.

What Is Fascia?
The fascia is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects the body's muscles, organs and skeletal structures. It's located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone. Muscle and fascia form the myofascial system. Fascia is very densely woven and connects each part of the entire body to every other part, like the yarn in a jumper.
Why Work on the Fascia?
Medical science is now discovering the important role of the fascia in regulating movement and generating pain. Because the fascia surrounds and attaches to all bodily structures it plays a vital role in the support of our bodies.
Normal healthy fascia is relaxed and wavy, and can stretch and move easily.
But injuries, stress, inflammation, trauma and poor posture can lead to the fascia losing its pliability. It becomes tight and restricted, and since fascia is an interconnected web, any restriction or tightness in one area can eventually spread to other places in the body.
The goal of Myofascial Release Therapy is to release fascial restriction and restore tissue health. It also works on scar tissue and adhesions that may be affecting the fascia.
